Positron emission tomography (PET/CT)
Positron emission tomography (PET/CT)Radioterapia Siglo XXI now offers all its patients the possibility of receiving a complete anatomy oncological study with the most advanced technology.
This makes it possible to plan treatment schemes with the greatest precision, rule out new cancerous lesions, multiple metastases, analyze the metabolic behavior of the lesions in the organs and accurately establish the phase of the disease.
This is PET/CT (Positron Emission Tomography), which uses small amounts of radioactive materials called radiotracers or radiopharmaceuticals, a special camera, and a computer to evaluate tissue and organ functions. By identifying changes at the cellular level, PET can detect early manifestations of disease earlier than other imaging tests.
- The study has no additional cost and will mainly benefit those patients diagnosed with head and neck, lung, rectal cancer and some cases of breast cancer. This analysis will allow the complete anatomy of the patient to be visualized, without any structure being left unscanned, thus showing both the lesions to be treated and evidencing any other lesions that are not known so far.
- An imaging specialist interprets images that identify target areas to be treated in the brain or body.
