Sounds of Value Support Group

The health of an oncology patient is not only physical, their mental and emotional stability is equally important; Oncological processes sometimes present doubts or moments of psychological or emotional affectation that intervene in the patient's recovery process itself.

In response to this reality and aware of the importance of emotional stability for the cancer patient during their treatment, the Siglo XXI Radiotherapy Center developed the Sounds of Valor support group, a virtual space for the cancer patient and their support network.

Sounds of value, It presents completely free virtual meetings every four months where topics of interest to patients, former patients and other participants are addressed.

Topics like the fear of cancer returning, how to face a new diagnosis? Is it normal to not have energy sometimes? How can I talk to my family about what is happening to me? How can I address sexuality with my partner? and other topics will be addressed from a psychological perspective, but in a space where all participants can comment and share their experiences.

It is a safe space where cancer survivors can also meet others who have gone through the same process, where they can share, understand each other, feel identified and can even share valuable experiences that have worked for them to overcome some stage that another is going through.

Marianela Camacho, administrative manager of the Siglo XXI Radiotherapy Center, who is also a cancer survivor explained the importance of this free space for the Medical Center.

Early detection

“For us at the Siglo XXI Radiotherapy Center it is very important to offer comprehensive support to our community of patients. For more than 24 years we have accompanied a large population of patients nationwide in their radiotherapy oncological processes and today we want to go further and provide comprehensive support in the emotional and psychological part, this time not only to our patients but to all those cancer survivors who want to be part of this space. ”

As a cancer survivor, I can say that the uncertainty surrounding a cancer diagnosis is very great and while it is true that doctors are the first source of information and support, talking to someone who has already gone through the same process gives us a real hope that the disease can be overcome and, above all, to understand what our body is experiencing and how to cope with it in the best way, both from a physical and emotional point of view.

This space is completely free and all cancer survivors and patients in the country are invited to participate.

To participate, you only have to write to the email info@siglo21.cr or write to our social networks Siglo XXI Radiotherapy Medical Center indicating that you want to be part of the support group.

After this they will be receiving information to be part of the next virtual meeting that takes place. All meetings have the support of psychology graduates who are experts in oncological issues. We invite you and your family members to be part of this group, together we can make the emotional and mental health processes that afflict us a little more bearable.

Together we are stronger.
